Preparations for the General Chapter

Dear Brothers, May the Lord give you peace.

Our 84th General Chapter is approaching, and I feel duty-bound to remind you that the main objective of the Chapter, in addition to the election of the General Minister and Definitors, will be to examine the Proposed Revision of our Constitutions, and to draft and approve a final version. This will conclude the work that began with the motion of the 82nd General Chapter in 2000 and was continued on the basis of the instructions given by the 83 rd General Chapter in 2006.

The Commission appointed by the General Definitory during the present sexennium (2006-2012) produced a First Draft of the text which was sent out to the Order. Subsequently, a second Draft text was produced in the light of feedback from individuals and groups of brothers, and this will now be presented to the General Chapter.
