Jubilee Celebration for PRONEB in Brazil

NORTHEASTERN BRAZIL - Both the Minister General, Br. Mauro Jöhri and the Definitor General for Brazil, Br. José Gislon were present at the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Friary on August 26, 2008 in Caruaru-PE for the Liturgy of Thanksgiving at which they celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Canonical Establishment of the Province of Nossa Senhora da Penha of Northeastern Brazil – PRONEB. The main celebrant for the liturgy was the metropolitan archbishop of Vitória da Conquista-BA, Msgr. Luís Gonzaga Silva Pepeu, OFMCap. Some of the other concelebrants were: Br. Franklin Diniz, Minister Provincial and all brothers of the Provincial Definitory as well as many friars from the Province. Along with the Capuchin concelebrants, there were also: Msgr. Severino Batista de França, bishop of Nazaré da Mata-PE; Msgr. Bernardino Marchió, bishop of Caruaru-PE; Msgr. Francesco Biasin, bishop of Pesqueira-PE; Br. João Alberto de Araújo, Minister Provincial of Ceará e Piauí; Msgr. Olivaldo Pereira, Vicar General of the Diocese of Caruaru along with other diocesan priests. Likewise some civil and military authorities joined the festive occasion. They were joined with many of the faithful in addition to some of the Capuchin brothers who renewed their vows in the present of the Minister General, Br. Mauro. After the Eucharistic celebration, there was time for refreshments and fraternalization. “To be brothers, our objective is to give testimony of genuine love, our Lady of Penha is our treasure.” (From the Official Hymn of the Province).
