Krist Jyoti: Discern the proper Direction

NORTHWEST INDIA – In compliance with the decree of the institution, the first Provincial Chapter of the Capuchin Province of Krist Jyoti in Northwest India was held from February 02-06, 2009 at Jyotiniketan Minor Seminary at Dasna Masoori in Ghaziabad Dt. The Provincial Minister, Br. Dominic Thirunilath, presided over the Chapter.

Br. Mauro Jöhri, General Minister, sent a letter to the brothers on February 1, 2009, assembled at the Chapter. He called it a historical moment and invoked the Holy Spirit upon the assembly to guide and to enlighten the brothers in their deliberations so that they may discern the proper direction for the Province of Krist Jyoti within the mission of the Church and the service of the people of God, especially the most needy. He likewise invoked the Holy Spirit upon each friar and as a fraternity so that they may be a sign of hope and indeed the light of Christ for all. He asked for God’s continued blessings upon all.

His Excellency, Bp. Peter Celestine OFMCap of the Diocese of Jammu-Srinagar, inaugurated the Chapter. He also spent a day with his confreres to share his insights, deliberating upon the theme of meekness, humility, simplicity and minority from Mt. 11:29 – “Learn of me, because I am meek and humble of heart”. Then, the friars of the Province spent two days together to reflect on their life and their witness in fraternity. They also prepared the Provincial Statutes and the Procedures for a Provincial Chapter. After this, Br. Mathew Paikada, a member of the Constitution Commission, guided the assembly in a detailed study of the proposed revision of the Constitutions.
